CONSULTATION

Your first appointment is an initial consultation during which we will gather important information about you. We will discuss each aspect of your aesthetic goals, including those not related to this treatment. PRE-TREATMENT GUIDELINES

There are several instructions you will be asked to follow before your Kybella treatment appointment. These instructions will ensure that your treatment is as safe and successful as possible.

It is important to follow each of these instructions to limit side effects, such as swelling or bruising. Some pre-treatment guidelines include:

• Stop taking certain over-the-counter pain relievers, such as aspirin, 3 to 7 days before treatment

• Stop taking certain supplements, such as Vitamin A or E, 3 to 7 days before treatment

• Avoid using tobacco, alcohol, or caffeine 1 to 2 days before treatment

• Avoid eating spicy foods and foods high in sugar or sodium 1 to 2 days before treatment

Scheduling of your treatment appointment should be done 2 to 3 weeks before any special events. We also ask that you reschedule your treatment appointment if you develop a cold, flu, or rash at the treatment area.

STEP ONE: CLEANSE AND NUMB

While we may ask you to arrive at your treatment appointment with a clean face, we will still clean your skin of any excess dirt, oil, or make-up to prepare for your treatment.

At patient request, we can discuss the use of topical anesthetics to numb the skin for the duration of your treatment. Your comfort is our top priority, so do not hesitate to speak up about using local numbing agents.

STEP TWO: INJECTIONS

Injections for this treatment are made with thin needles. You will have multiple small injections made into the area beneath your chin during each treatment session. The number of injections you have depends on your exact treatment plan and your desired appearance goals. Injections usually take 15 to 20 minutes to complete for each session.

 

POST-TREATMENT GUIDELINES

After your injections, your treatment is complete. You will be given instructions to follow to help guide you through recovery and ensure that each treatment is as effective as possible. Some post-treatment guidelines include:

• Avoid certain over-the-counter pain relieves, such as aspirin, for 3 to 7 days after treatment

• Avoid certain supplements for 3 to 7 days after treatment

• Avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging the treatment area

We may give you additional instructions to follow, such as drinking water and eating soft foods after treatment. We will advise you to sleep with your head elevated for at least 1 week after treatment. We will also advise on how to ice the treatment area for the next 24 hours.

RECOVERY

Recovery from this treatment takes between 2 to 3 weeks. During this time, you can expect temporary swelling or bruising at the treatment area which will resolve itself in the days following your treatment.
